Day 2

Consolidated sub base

The 450x450 Tobermore Mayfair silver patio paving slabs are walked through the passive house and loaded out on the edge of the proposed garden patio area.

The pins and string lines are installed to the correct heights, falls and levels for water runoff.

Full paving mortar beds

The patio paving slabs are laid of a full bed of mortar, we never use the 5 spot system as this will lead to problems later as this procedure is unprofessional and not durable.

10mm paving spacers

All paving stones and spaced with a 10mm wooden spacer, this ensures the perfect sized spacing that I require for this project.

Level paving

The entire paving is completely level, you wouldn't want your glass of wine sliding off your patio table now would you?, every paving installed is leveled with a spirit level and not by eye.

Slight fall on paving for water runoff

For this project the slightest fall on the paving is required, this assists with the runoff of rain water into the soft landscaping.

Patio paving Devon

The entire paving is scrubbed and hosed down with clean water ready for the pointing compound.

THIS PROJECT IS ON GOING, PLEASE RETURN SOON TO VIEW DAILY PROGRESS.

"I can remeber been told about this problem when training 40 years ago. It's not uncommon and is the result of the same cylinder mower being used repeatedly for many years, generally in a narrow area where it has to be mowed in the same direction.…"

Neil Darby replied to Peter sellers's discussion Stiga/mountfield roller mower
"Hi Peter, I try not to mow if possible when its too wet. Like most machines the grass sticks everywhere. If it is already trimmed it is ok, just don't go cutting a couple of inches growth when wet! Just a side note, the bloody belt come off of it…"

"How about a spray, then the next cut goes to waste?
Assuming the cuts are a few weeks apart all should be good?"

"I've seen old daffodil fields with ridges and furrows.  The spaces between the ridges were double yours though to allow walking along to pick.  Could there have been commercial planting once upon a time?"

Difficult one to describe. We've got a couple of lawns that we've taken over and both (unrelated locations) have got an almost rumble strip feel to certain sections. Absolutely paralell lines in a relatively large area. I'm ensured that the only…
