Well the day started well. I had a blissful time bagging free tulip bulbs. The boot of the car is weighed down with about a thousand tulips.
This evening, my favourite farmer, whose field I use, says I have to quit it ASAP as his land agent takes a dim view of me using it. Apprently it counts as subletting, even though no money changes hands. He cannot risk his tenancy, Somerset County council would love any excuse to sell another county farm.
I have to rehome about 40 David Austin Roses, 100 garlic plants just starting to shoot, a dozen buddlias and various perennials, so if anyone near Somerset wants to come to come to Donyatt to get some plants, let me know. It will break my heart to see them go under the plough.

I am already phoning round to see who can give a plant a good home. So far rehomed some dahlias and roses.
Most of my own garden has been planted that way. When OH enquires about the provenance of a plant I tell him we had it ages or that the birds must have dropped the seed!
