The National Trust is hoping that a plantation of trees at Holnicote, near Minehead, can help in the fight against ash dieback.
The trees have survived the disease for longer than thought possible, 11 years, and it is thought there might be an opportunity to slow the spread of ash dieback in the UK countryside.
According to the National Trust only 10% of the 6,000 ash trees at Holnicote are showing signs of the disease, despite having been infected for five years longer than any other tree in the UK so far.
