During the year Peak Surfacing have been working with Green Estate on urban regeneration projects at parks and public places throughout sheffield.
We were initially asked to provide a seamless,virtually maintenance free resin bound surface for a community park which green estate were creating,near the city center.
To create the fully permeable surface we laid 30mm of resin bound surfacing on top of a compacted subbase.Resin bound surfacing a mixture of dried gravels and polyurethane binders was mixed together and trowled to a smooth finish.Its texture allows water to drain away through the voids in the surface,preventing puddles and rain water run off .
During November Green estate replaced a number of damaged trees at a shopping parade in north sheffield and asked Peak Sufacing to replace the tree pit surfacing.
Initially we compacted the subbase before adding a layer of loose gravel to allow the water and air to reach the roots.A layer of resin bound paving was trowlled to a smooth finish,.peeling back as the tree grows.
Resin bound tree pits have many benefits -mechanical sweepers can keep the area clean,and prevent the build up of litter associated with tradional grilles,they become a decorative feature in the urban landscape ,with no loose stones.

Resin bound Paving for Trees is a decorative unique system, not only is it permeable but it also allows the tree to grow and the bound will gradually break away in growth, not like cast iron grills that damage the trees. if you would like more if please feel free to vist us here.
