Way back in 2001, we invented the Landscapers Exchange Board at our Nursery.

It is a forum via our notice board for Landscapers, Designers and to share information, contact each other, find work, share work, for the mutual benefit of all.

How it works now is:

  • Each of our customers add their Business Card to our Notice Board.
  • Every visiting customer views our Board.
  • This puts local Landscaping Businesses in direct contact with others within our industry.

Since 2001 we have by way of our Board brought many Landscapers & Designers together.  Along with Designers seeking Garden Lighting specialists,  Landscapers seeking work or Garden Maintainence Contractors with too much work, seeking outside help.

When we get the odd Retail customer in, we do not sell to them.  Instead we recommend a Local Landscaper that they can buy our plants through, so our customers get the plant supply, and planting work.

11 years later it is still going, but we need to bring it into the modern age.

Following a meeting today, we have decided to add these Business Cards and contacts to our website www.southwestlandscapecentre.co.uk  The links and details will be added and updated over the next 4 weeks.  We have to keep it local, so set a 25 mile radius around our Nursery, to aid local Landscapers.

We do not charge for this service.

Obviously, Landscape Juice Network is the national network for all within our industry.  For a local angle, as we have been doing for 11 years, this ties in well.  The LJN sticker, kindly supplied by Phil Voice, sits at the centre stage of our Landscapers Exchange Board, and will always do so.

  • Following discussions this week with our customers, this has grown into more than we first thought it could be.

All customers so far asked, have agreed that photos of their work, featuring our plants, will be added to our website.  We will feature local Landscapers and Garden Designers work, with reciprocal links to their websites.

This will not only promote Dorset based Landscapers and Garden Designers, but also, show off our plants in real gardens.

A real win-win for our customers, backed up by their plant supplier.

"Plus it doesn't matter if we all know plants are better value. I'd make the point of this to the customer but if they want trough grown at the extra cost that's their choice I'd just do it"

"I've done 5ft Thorne troughs. Very easy to plant just got a mini digger dug the trench then drop them in couldn't be easier however £250 per m does seem expensive. "

"Agree with you Graham, we have a client with a long run of Laurel which we only cut once a year mid june and have done for over 20 years, the client is fussy with a capital F ! It's a superb evergreen hedge which is bomb proof.
As to this so called…"

"Disagree there!  I maintain a site with a couple of of large laurel hedges and one cut in July suffices and keeps it looking nice.  Agree.... looks nasty immediately after cutting but quickly perks up so you don't notice the cut leaves.  Pretty much…"
