People are being asked to look out for the Spanish slug, as it chomps its way through UK gardens and crops.
The Slug Watch website provides advice to people on how to spot the slugs under logs and plant pots in their gardens, as well as record and photograph their findings.
And the Spanish slug is quite a monster as it is able to survive slug pellets, will eat crops that native species won't touch and is able to tolerate drier conditions.
The Iberian invader, Arion vulgaris, can reproduce in great numbers and has unappealing habits, including eating dead animals and excrement.

I have some problem with these slugs they are the only ones that will even eat leeks
however this dryer year has not been so bad.
