The HTA, in partnership with the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA), have developed a one-day conference, which will be held at the National Agri-Food Innovation Campus at Sand Hutton, near York, on Wednesday 17 February.
The conference aims to clarify everyone's roles and responsibilities across plant health issues, bringing together nurseries, retailers, specifiers, landscapers, inspectors and regulators. The content will provide delegates with all they need to know in order to comply with plant health legislation and to safeguard the UK.
The opening address will be made by a senior government representative, who will outline the government's view on the importance of preventing and controlling pests and diseases that could damage the UK environment.
Delegates will hear what growers and their customers need to do to fulfil their plant health responsibilities and mitigate risks.
Raoul Curtis-Machin, head of horticulture at the Horticultural Trades Association, will chair the conference and will speak from a trade association perspective, how growers can take a proactive approach in finding out up-to-date and relevant information and what plant health means for landscapers and what they should consider when purchasing plants directly from overseas.
The cost for HTA members is £25.00, plus VAT and for non-members is £50.00, plus VAT.
