The director of public health in Stockport, Dr Stephen Watkins, has said to cut costs 'sheep, goats or llamas could be used as an alternative to mowing'.
However, the Stockport Express newspaper reports that the council PR department said that whilst it is always open to suggestions, it will stick with the existing methods for mowing parks and green spaces.
Dr Watkins said that it was just one of the ideas put forward as the council looks to cut £1 million from its parks' budget.
He said that land could be given grazing rights and owners of sheep, goats or llamas could use it, but they would also add a new attraction to the parks.
