Give peace a chance

You might be wondering what does that to do with gardening.... and you will have to forgive me for using my blog here to as my stage, at these days of fighting in Gaza and Israel.

It is a very busy morning here in Shropshire , with lots of orders that I got to process ( many olive trees and bay plants as gifts for Christmas) ... but I stopped everything to write this post as I feel that I have to give things some hope.

It is very difficult to see children in Gaza that are now in hospital as a result of these fights, what makes me feel bad is to see another generation that will be brought up to hate and fight.

Also to see children in the Israeli side that have to leave their homes and go to their relatives as they cannot sleep at nights because of the rockets noise.

There are few things that can change things but it is very difficult to do and ask and I hope that if we will spread this post perhaps some hope for peace.

To explain a bit about life in israel as I know it is slightly different than what many thinks it is...

While these days many Israelis were called to the army, had to stop their life leave their families and get ready and I am aware it is much more difficult to live on the other side of the border of Gaza .

But for us Israelis guns are not really cool thing, I never heard Israelis on a party or event speaking about guns or weapon - it will be sound like speaking on homework or school - something you have to do but not really wish to.

I really feel sorry for the people in Gaza , their "Islamic brothers" that support them with weapon supply if they really care about them why would not help them with developing Gaza offering jobs education, medicines .

Funny but how come Israel is the supplier of water, electricity and food to Gaza ..

While extreme Islam prefer, because of local politics to create hate , another generation in Gaza is called to fight but is actually lead for poverty and low standard of living - so sad .

If just someone could sell children in Gaza the idea of living like normal children around the world , If just all the money that was spent on rocket on be spent on creating a beautiful country.

The potential is massive but all needed is a strong leader with a vision , perhaps other countries supporting Gaza ,teaching that each one of them can have hope by growth and not just fight ...

If just instead of a rocket a tree would be planted .... that country would look beautiful

I pray and hope for hope and peace in the world

  • such a sad complex painful conflict. I don't agree with 100% of what you say Ofer, but I really support your wish for peace instead of conflict. Maybe one day. I grew up in Northern Ireland, and at one time it seemed that peace could never come, but today bombs are very rare, and the barriers have (mostly) come down. Maybe one day Israelis and Palestinians will be able to coexist and build safe futures for their people...

  • Many thanks Rose,

There were many days that many palastinians did work in israel and all enjoyed good life,

I do not think that I am always right , let me know what you think rose- i would love to know ( we still be friends) .

the diffrence between Gaza and ireland - is that there are many countries that funnel hate and weapon into Gaza to keep the area hot - If just they were to support these people with education/food/ tourisim but of course it is diffrent mind set of extreme coming from some people ( not all) In countries like Iran and others...

"I've done 5ft Thorne troughs. Very easy to plant just got a mini digger dug the trench then drop them in couldn't be easier however £250 per m does seem expensive. "

"Disagree there!  I maintain a site with a couple of of large laurel hedges and one cut in July suffices and keeps it looking nice.  Agree.... looks nasty immediately after cutting but quickly perks up so you don't notice the cut leaves.  Pretty much…"
