As people naturally define the boundaries of their home with walls and fencing there needs to be a point of access, traditionally through a gate, which when closed contributes to the security of the home. People will usually have two gates on their property, one which provides access to the front and one which provides access to the back.
Garden gatesare typically gates for pedestrians to access the front or back garden of a property. They can be made of wood or metal and can be full height or low, depending on the style of your garden and the height of the wall or fence the gate is attached to. A back garden gate is generally more of a security gate and is usually full height with a lock and padlock as a deterrent to intruders. A front garden gate will usually be a low gate and just have a latch to keep it closed. This is due to the fact that front garden gates are in frequent use.
Driveway gatesallow vehicle access to a property. These are usually between 2.5 and 3.5 meters wide and can be in wood or metal. Due to the weight of the gates they tend to have to be supported by a wall, as opposed to fencing. As they are such large pieces it is relatively easily to get them customised when you order them to a particular style or finish so that they are in keeping with your home.
