Gardeners' World Live rolls into the NEC Birmingham next week, and for one designer it has been a journey to savour.
Sharon Hockenhull, from Bolton, was selected by multi-award winning garden designer Cleve West and experts from the RHS to build a garden at this year's show.
But Sharon faced a challenge with the theme of the garden set as 'Metamorphosis - a design journey', and there was also a set list of materials to be used.
All designed to challenge her creativity, Sharon's interpretation called 'Sketch to Reality' focuses on juxtaposing two stages of the design process, the first sketchy ideas of a design to the final fully-formed and landscaped garden.
"I feel incredibly honoured to have been chosen as a winner," said Sharon. "The opportunity to build a show garden under the guidance of Cleve West is the best professional development opportunity I could wish for."
The 'Sketch' side of Sharon's garden uses raw materials in unconventional ways to create the feeling of something sketched, unfinished, still forming and taking shape.
The wire sculpture represents ideas metamorphosing from scribbles into a more unified, tangible form.
In contrast, the 'Reality' side presents the finished landscaped garden by switching materials back to their conventional uses.
The garden becomes a livelier space with richer colour scheme, movement through water and planting that uses contrasting flowering perennials with grasses.
BBC Gardeners’ World Live, NEC, Birmingham, runs from 12-16 June, 2013.
