Bob Howden, managing director and owner of the Ongoing Developments group which includes paving and walling company Grasscrete, has been elected as British Cycling president.
A keen cyclist and racer, Howden has spent the past 35 years heavily involved in cycling, including organising the Ryedale Grand Prix and three editions of the road race national championships.
He was elected unopposed and will replace former head Brian Cookson, although Bob Howden had been acting president in recent months.
And one of his first tasks will be welcoming the 2014 Grand Départ of the Tour de France as it sets off from his local Yorkshire region.
"I am delighted to have been elected as British Cycling’s president with a mandate to push on with ensuring that British Cycling is achieving its objectives," Bob Howden said.
"We will remain true to what has become our tradition: to succeed on the world stage and to inspire people to enjoy riding their bikes more often, be it for sport, recreation or transport."
Grasscrete paving is a system of permeable, reinforced concrete rings that combined offer a structure for natural grass to grow through.
