After large public projects it is inspiring to work on a smaller scale for private clients. This was a medium scale piece of work for a person who had strong and clear ideas about what she wanted.
The project involved making Steel structures with Yorkstone surfaces; the combination of these materials worked extremely well. The work consisted of a balcony leading from the house, down steps, and into a garden that was divided by two low benches with integral pergolas. It manifests the practice of dividing gardens up into separate rooms.
It is exactly the kind of project that I would like to do more of; through collaborating with the client and developing ideas or working to other designers drawings. The interpretation of peoples ideas into tangible forms is always extremely interesting.
