Maison/Objets Fair Paris 2012

This very French Fair has all the hallmarks of Chic and Elegance. Situated in the Parc des Expostion which is an enormous site , the eight vast separate halls have displays from both European and other Continental manufacturers.

What you notice immediately is the size of each stand and the space between them. The halls are not cramped and the stands not butted up to each other.

The sleek and elegant designs from many Spanish and Italian manufacturers is clearly evident and added to this is the way the items are displayed in room sets or outdoor living areas. This is not a show were products are crammed on shelves in uniform rows. The products are set within a scene, lit accordingly and you feel invited onto the stand to browse.

With better weather in the Mediterranean , you can understand the market my be greater for outdoor furniture and spas as well as outdoor showers and barbeques. The quality of some of the products is outstanding. Not only clever innovative design but also lovely finishes. Some stands even had rooms set with several tables in rows with place servings etc so that hotels and restaurants could see how the furniture would work.

In another Hall pots from various suppliers were displayed some vast ones so big as the picture below shows I don’t know how you would plant them but maybe they look better without anything in, just as a feature.

The lighting was very good on most stands and especially when it came from underneath. In fact the whole show featured a lot of outdoor lighting.

Some innovative chairs

And some very interesting new ways of planting trees? Maybe a good but very large and heavy present?!

Next stop Birmingham for Glee....Hmm Paris or Birmingham ?.....

"Plus it doesn't matter if we all know plants are better value. I'd make the point of this to the customer but if they want trough grown at the extra cost that's their choice I'd just do it"

"I've done 5ft Thorne troughs. Very easy to plant just got a mini digger dug the trench then drop them in couldn't be easier however £250 per m does seem expensive. "

"Agree with you Graham, we have a client with a long run of Laurel which we only cut once a year mid june and have done for over 20 years, the client is fussy with a capital F ! It's a superb evergreen hedge which is bomb proof.
As to this so called…"

"Disagree there!  I maintain a site with a couple of of large laurel hedges and one cut in July suffices and keeps it looking nice.  Agree.... looks nasty immediately after cutting but quickly perks up so you don't notice the cut leaves.  Pretty much…"
