Peel Park Quarter is a new, state of the art student accommodation complex at the University of Salford. The £81 million project was managed by Graham Construction and has been referred to as one of Europe’s largest single phase student accommodation builds.
Designed by landscape architect, Gillespie’s, the grounds at Peel Park Quarter are complete with a permeable paving solution from Tobermore. A large expanse of Tobermore’s Hydropave Fusion was installed as a prevention method for flooding and pollution issues, ultimately creating a more sustainable landscape. As Hydropave Fusion is manufactured with all the aesthetic benefits of the standard Fusion paving range, Tobermore ensure that style is not compromised when utilising a permeable paving solution. A selection of Hydropave Fusion in the sparkling colours of Graphite and Silver has been intertwined in a stylish design to create a stunning, modern look.
The project comprises nine residential blocks on two separate sites to accommodate 1,367 students, as well as providing luxurious yet affordable accommodation, communal social spaces, two 30-seater cinemas, a gym, an energy centre, a laundrette and professional meeting areas, which look set to create a new era for the University.
The facility was opened by Professor Helen Marshall, Vice Chancellor at the University, at a plaque unveiling ceremony in October 2015. Robert Moyle, Director of Salford Student Village, commented, “Peel Park Quarter is the future of student accommodation in the UK – a home from home which combines luxury facilities with high-quality construction, innovative design solutions, the latest technology and first-rate customer service.”
