Tesco has sold the UK’s second largest garden centre chain, Dobbies, for £217m, in the latest of a string of disposals.
The business, which runs 35 garden centres across Scotland, England and Northern Ireland, has been sold to a group of investors led by Midlothian Capital Partners and Hattington Capital.
Tesco bought Dobbies for £150m in 2007. The business contributed £17m to the supermarket group’s last annual profits.
