A prestigious golf course in Kent has turned to Sherriff Amenity to help create a beautiful array of wild flowers, which have added more appeal to its spectacular fairways and stunning views.
Following a successful wild flower planting initiative launched by the Ladies Section at Lamberhurst Golf Course, greens staff decided to create another superb wild flower area near the club’s ‘half way hut’. The seeds were planted at the beginning of the year and the area has blossomed into a main attraction for both members and visitors alike.
“The feedback has been incredible. Not only are the players amazed but even people from the village walk up to look at it. More than often players will stand on the tee and take photos with the backdrop of all the beautiful flowers,” said Bruce Woodgate, head greenkeeper at Lamberhurst Golf Club.
To create this exquisite display, Bruce used a mix of Colour Splash Douce France and combined with a WW1 Commemorative flower mixture featuring a 100% Poppy mix which results in a great show of vivid red flowers and provides a fitting and poignant display to the fallen.
The flower mix was a special package purchased from Sherriff Amenity that also came with a beehive which was positioned in a quiet and safe place away from the fairway. It was a welcome addition to Lamberhurst, as the popular golf club is keen to continue a great wildlife on the golf course.
“It is always noted that golf clubs are bad for the environment, bad for ecology and they never do anything to encourage wildlife but this is quite to the contrary. Lamberhurst is heaving with wildlife. Bees’ general population is struggling but the extended flower bed here really helps them out and I’m absolutely delighted that Sherriff Amenity can play a part in this,” said Neil Pullen, regional manager at Sherriff Amenity.
