hi i have recently picked up a qualcast 35s cylinder mower, when i mow it leaves a rib effect on the lawn, ive sharpened blades and set, adjusted the mixture screw, but still no joy, the blade does seem to slow slightly and pick up again when mowing which i think might be the reason but not sure? any advise would be gratefully appreciated thanks

Hi Matt
It could be a bent blade.
Thanks phil, i will try a new blade see if it cures the problem.
Are you sure the cylinder is not set too tightly? If so, this will very quickly wear 'waves' in the bottom blade and wreck it.
If the cylinder will cut a sheet of A4 paper cleanly then it's set tight enough - it doesn't need to be 'hard down' on the bottom blade.
Also when you say sharpened, was this done by a lawnmower machine shop on a proper cylinder grinding machine?
i have sharpened the bottom blade, and the paper does cut as you say. when i mowed the lawn the grass was cut even, just this ribbing effect, i am going to fit new blades to see if it cures the problem
