An online “one stop shop” of facts and figures has been launched to help improve business planning and decision-making throughout the Welsh commercial horticulture sector.
Supply chain efficiency project Horticulture Wales, which is headed up out of Glyndwr University’s Northop campus, has developed its new Data Portal to provide a centralised resource of relevant statistics and market information to help growers, processors, retailers, and policymakers make more informed decisions.
Thought to be the first such resource of its kind for the industry in Wales, the free online tool currently includes nearly 150 charts and graphs covering everything from commodity prices and crop production, through to land use and consumer purchasing patterns.
It also monitors broader economic indicators such as the rate of inflation and unemployment, export and import figures, and climate and weather statistics, to provide a snapshot of the overall business environment in Wales and the UK.
