Marshalls PLC to sponsor Landscape Juice

I am delighted to announce that Marshalls PLC, Britain's largest hard landscaping manufacturer and supplier, has agreed an initial six month sponsorship deal for the Landscape Juice Network. Marshalls' Group Marketing Director Chris Harrop commented: "Landscape Juice has proven itself over the years and the website has a significant number of visitors looking for landscaping information and to share their views with others in the industry. "Sponsoring Landscape Juice gives Marshalls a great opportunity to raise awareness of key issues facing the industry like training and sustainability. As industry leaders, it's been our focus to keep pushing on these issues and Landscape Juice is the ideal forum from which to really engage on finding the solutions." I've been in discussion with Chris Harrop from Marshalls for the last three months or so and what has impressed me during these talks has been that a large PLC - often labelled uncaring and insensitive to key issues in their respective markets - was willing to participate, directly, with a wider group of men and women who ultimately buy and install their products. It's a brave move for Marshalls because they are effectively joining the market mix but it demonstrates, as we have been saying through Landscape Juice for such a long time, that our respective business future's will be moulded and guided by peer view and review and the Landscape Juice Social Network is the only place that can be achieved in the United Kingdom. Marshalls have been members of the Landscape Juice Network since December 2009. Marshalls have agreed to an initial six month deal and I hope, should this relationship prove mutually beneficial, that Marshalls will sign up for the long term and help us continue to tackle some of the business issues that affect the many thousands of one-man and small enterprises in the United Kingdom. Marshalls have joined us as our principle sponsor but I continue to talk to other market leaders with a view to supporting Landscape Juice and I hope to report the results of these discussions in the very near future. The sponsorship money will enable the further development of Landscape Juice - I hope to expand our news service by employing freelance journalists and I hope that we can bolt on further services to the site. One particular cool feature will be the full integration of Twitter and Facebook into the network - it is hoped that we can do this by the end of July. Website: http://www.marshalls.co.uk/

  • Well done to you and Marshalls. Keep up the good work.
  • I echo Claudia's comment - well done to both parties - great result Philip.
  • Wow fantastic news and a further leap forward for the LJN which must surely now be THE landscape industries principal voice for the UK. Hope you have a bottle of decent bubbly cooling down there.
On a personal front the LJN has helped to realise my own dreams in setting up strong working connections and a future working solely in France and seeing a positive stress free future ahead. My own personal thanks to you and all the other amazing members on here whose selfless advice is always the best on offer. But it looks like this is just the beginning of where the LJN can go!!

"Totally agree with Peter... Clay is also quite wet so fence spikes will rust off fast. I'd find a way of digging the hole, put a postsaver sleeve around a proper 10 year (UC4) post."

Palisade fence, single or double.
I've used spike without concrete for panel fencing. Don't think I'd like to use them on close board without concrete because of the extra weight.
I figured out method for the spikes. Used a 6ft digging pushed…"

Fence spike in clay

Hi all,I'm erecting a close board timber fence in clay soil. Due to the clay and poor drainage I'm thinking of using fence spikes. Would clay be suitable? Would it provide enough stability for a 1.8 mt high fence? I'm considering using 15cm wide…
