The first fine day at the weekend I can remember in a long time seemed like the perfect time to set to and create a log store. I try to run my garden on permaculture lines (I did a course on permaculture design a couple of years ago) so nothing is wasted and you design with different zones from the house. So, I have my raised vegetable bed just by the back door and I had a dead space to the side that was always planned to be a log store but I just hadn't got round to building it yet. A friend of mine who is handy with a power drill came to help me after I'd drawn up the design he built it in under 2 hours. Pretty impressive and it tidies up a messy corner with something useful which helps me to heat my house using materials I get from gardening and pruning trees, etc so it is totally within my ethics of 'recycle, re-use and reduce'. I think you will agree it is looking good! We have used polycarbonate sheeting as the roof, angled to allow rain to fall off. When I have sourced some logs it will look even better.
