Liz Truss has been appointed as the new environment secretary in David Cameron's shake-up of his cabinet.
The MP for South-West Norfolk replaces Owen Paterson, and it is being seen as a key appointment as prime minister David Cameron promotes women and younger MPs in his reshuffle.
Liz Truss was under-secretary of state in the department of education, and is one of the leading lights in the Tory party.
She has co-written a policy book called Britannia Unchained, which advocated radical deregulation and Thatcherite free-market economics.
