In the grand scheme of things...

We all make mistakes.... whether it's planting bulbs upsidedown, designing in centimeters only to measure in inches... ordering 5, only to end up with 5 dozen.... writing an entire paper for a senior committee and not realising that an acronym had been changed to 'BOOBS' throughout by the automatic spell checker which clearly thought it was in line for a slot at the Edinburgh festival (me).... hey, we've all been there and it's not usually the end of the world.... so pity the poor bugger at the centre of the so-called 'Flash Crash' last week....A trader from Citigroup accidentally entered 'B' for Billion onto his order book instead of 'M' for Million and caused the Dow Jones Industrial Average to dip by 10% in three minutes - the largest intra-day drop in its history.... 'Bing, bing, bing' went the warning lights around the world.... with, presumably, more 'blue language' than the average Catholic schoolkid utters when caught smoking and wearing a banned Iron Maiden tee-shirt under the uniform.... And now there's some bloke with a spare waste channel following an encounter with a purple-faced, fire-spitting boss (one assumes).....I leave you to draw your own lessons from this one.... Feel free to use this as an ethernet confessional and fess up to your own calamities.....Incidentally, the fact that such mistakes are commonly called 'fat finger' incidents makes them sound rather benign... a bit like calling a rabid pit bull 'Sweet pea', though really.....

  • As you say we have all been there got the video and tee shirt, Iron Maiden or otherwise.
  • Re the pit bull - An old school friend, (who emigrated to NZ), had an english bull terrier, horrid thing, never got to see it as it had a reputation for announced mauling. In fact (it was a she) she had a litter of puppies that she decided to eat as she was bored and had had her access to postman, schoolchildren limited etc., The only other time I have heard such growling was when watching jurassic park for the first time, which left me an emotional wreck for the fear that this beast of a dog was actually loose in the cinema.

    her name was Daisy.
  • I'm thinking I might call our next house rabbit 'Killer' or 'Satan'....
  • On the subject of killer rabbits

"I've done 5ft Thorne troughs. Very easy to plant just got a mini digger dug the trench then drop them in couldn't be easier however £250 per m does seem expensive. "
