I have to say Robbie, I have *imense* respect for your superb video blogs covering Lawn Care, how you approach it and your business.

Many on LJN are learning from your up-front, openness and willingness to share.

Whenever you release one, for me it becomes a must watch at the earliest opportunity.

We've exchanged emails and spoken, so I know how focussed you are and how much effort you've put into your business.

We can all benefit from similar approaches.

    Personally, well done 👍

    Hi Gary

That's a huge compliment, thank you.

It started as a hobby (still is) that helps the business, it's a fun way to promote myself. I don't take myself to serious and try and keep the videos about the work and not about me.

Since the lockdown, it was far exceeded my expectations. On Christmas day I hit 1k subs - at the time I said to my wife Noeleen if I work really hard at it I might hit for 4k subs this year. As I type this it's now over 11k subs - 10k gathered in the last five months - Though it's starting to slow down again.

My wife is in a high-risk group and is sheltering and I made the personal choice to cut right back on work. I'm still maintaining long-standing clients with lawn treatments and grass cutting, my helper is on furlough. Coming into hedge cutting season there are some tough choices ahead.

Since lockdown, I have been spending around 2 days a week on YouTube. One day to film and another to edit, often it takes longer than a day to edit. Most of my videos are 6-10 hours to edit. I think most folks don't think about the work that goes into each video. I have to research everything I say as if you get something wrong people jump all over it.

To be honest, I know very little about photography and have just learnt as I go, i like to believe each one just gets that tiny little bit better

I'm now at what I believe to be a crossroads, I'm now one of the top 3 Pro gardeners on YouTube in UK/Ireland.

I think have the opportunity to grow it into a standalone business with a bit more effort.

I guess that leads into money - what money am I making now? Surprisingly,  not that much, I make a bit (Though lots of people assume you make a fortune), it's around £1 for every 1000 views - not going to retire any time soon.   Some videos make more, some make less.

I would be making much more if I was spending those 2 days a week out gardening...

I have spent more than I have made, by the time you buy cameras, mounts, mics, tripods, software, even the music I use costs me £10 a month - it all adds up and I just very recently a Drone - Mavic air 2 - that thing is so much fun.

I really enjoy doing it and have built up a nice community around me, I'm lucky as I genuinely enjoy my job and I always hope that comes across in the videos.

    Thanks again, Gary.
