Durham Marriott Hotel Redevelops 17th Century Landscape

Situated on the banks of the River Wear, the fabulous Durham Marriott Hotel Royal County offers sensational views of England's famous Durham Castle and Cathedral. The ground works of the premises has recently been redeveloped and now boasts a splendid landscaped area featuring Tobermore’s world class paving.

The Marriott chain originated in Washington, DC, over 80 years ago and now offers more than 500 hotels worldwide. Originally built in the 17th Century, the exclusive 4 star hotel in Durham offers modern amenities while preserving historic charm and exquisite features. Durham Marriott Hotel is renowned as one of the top hotels in north east England, offering wedding and event facilities, catering services, elegantly furnished guest rooms, an indoor pool, spa, fitness centre, not to mention a stylish restaurant, bar and Champagne Terrace.

Tobermore are delighted to have supplied a selection of paving products for the grounds of the hotel. Tegula paving in the soft tones of Cedar was the perfect accompaniment to the ancient style features of the historic part of the building. Tegula products are tumbled to achieve an aged antique appearance, similar to weathered stone. Tegula Circle in Cedar is also incorporated on the ground works. Tegula Circle complements and adds a focal point to any paved area.

Tobermore’s Pedesta paving in luxurious Red is additionally featured on the hotel grounds. Pedesta is a popular and a cost-effective choice from Tobermore’s block paving offerings. Pedesta is manufactured with a special hard wearing surface layer and is available in a variety of deep, vibrant colours. The rectangular shape of Pedesta makes it highly versatile and provides endless design possibilities. The beautiful paving from Tobermore was installed by Alpha Landscapes, based in Newcastle upon Tyne.
