This weeks sees Manchester host the Dig the City festival, which offers up ideas and talks on urban gardening.
Running until 11 August, much of central Manchester will be taken over by plants and trees, with TV gardener Monty Don launching the event, as well as Matt James and Rachel de Thame on hand to inspire.
Other attractions include craft stalls, plant swaps and traditional country fete-style fun on King Street, St Ann’s Square, New Cathedral Street, Exchange Square and Cathedral Yard.
