Coles open day sees over 100 attend

Over 100 Landscapers, Nurseries, Local Authorities and Architects from across the UK and further afield made their way to Coles Nurseries on Thursday 3rd September for the biennial Coles Open Day, this year held at Syston, the company’s second largest production site.

The event commenced with a tour of the 60+ acre nursery, featuring a number of talks and demonstrations from industry leaders including; JCB Industrial demonstrating the capabilities of their newest Teletruk machines, TSD IT Bv showing the time and cost saving benefits provided by their new remote stock control system (pioneered by Coles), ICL (Everris Ltd) on the advantages Osmacote gives to growing plants and Coles’ own Vince Edwards showing how use of the NPS (National Plant Specification) can help any business in dealing with plant handling or specification, as well as giving guests an insight into wholesale nursery production in the UK.

Following the nursery tour, guests travelled to a local Craft Brewery (The Grainstore, Oakham) for a tour of the largest brewery in Rutland, a tasting of the in-house beers and lunch, before returning to the Nursery.
