I am delighted to welcome Carol Miers as Features writer for Landscape Juice - Carol's appointment was announced yesterday and already Carol has set to work on some new projects. It is with thanks to our sponsors that has enabled me to take this step and broaden our reach. Carol's subject matter will vary. From one-to-one interviews with Landscape Juice Network members as well as notable people outside the network who have an important role to play in our industry through to indepth articles on training, sustainability and the environment. Carol brings a rich journalistic background, ranging from news and current affairs and writing and producing for local radio - read Carol's 'about' page. Three notable projects Carol's been involved in are, helping to redesign a portable chainsaw mill for use by small groups in rainforests, to avoid the effects of clear-felling, covering a conservation project for sturgeon in the Gironde Estuary and red squirrel conservation in Wales. A special mention to Landscape juice sponsors for their support for making this investment possible: Marshalls - Britain's largest landscaping material manufacturer. "Plus it doesn't matter if we all know plants are better value. I'd make the point of this to the customer but if they want trough grown at the extra cost that's their choice I'd just do it"

"I've done 5ft Thorne troughs. Very easy to plant just got a mini digger dug the trench then drop them in couldn't be easier however £250 per m does seem expensive. "

"Disagree there!  I maintain a site with a couple of of large laurel hedges and one cut in July suffices and keeps it looking nice.  Agree.... looks nasty immediately after cutting but quickly perks up so you don't notice the cut leaves.  Pretty much…"
