Following on from my recent successful collaboration with Michael Thompson to produce a SketchUp model of his SID (Soil Improvement) to produce images for his Rammed Earth D.I.Y. Manual, I would like to make the following services available for Landscape Juice Network members at a discounted rate:

SketchUp Services

* 3D visualisations of your ideas/plans to convey your designs to prospective clients.
* 3D JPEG images of gardens/products for use in adveritising literature, brochures, manuals and site boards etc.
* 3D SketchUp models of gardens/products for placing on Google's 3D Warehouse for customer download and embedding in websites/blogs etc.

* 3D Avi file animations for uploading on to You Tube and embedding in websites/blogs etc.
* 3D Google Earth models to place on Google's 3D Warehouse for customer download and embedding in websites/blogs etc.

2D CAD Services

* Site surveys drawn up from your measurements, photos and videos.
* Building elevations and driveways drawn up for detailed planning applications.

SketchUp/2D CAD Tuition / Training In London / UK

* One-to-one personal tuition done via. Skype screen-sharing to suit all levels and needs. Course could be built around a 'real life' project you have or be geared to teach you the basic skills needed to produce professional standard drawings.

Remote Garden Design Service

* Professional standard garden design service to offer to your customers at very, very competitive prices (I am based in the North, charge 'Northern' rates and do not have high overheads!).
* I do not mind designing to your own particular 'style'/techniques etc.
* I have the 'hands on' experience myself and know how things are done on site/in the real world!

My Relevant Experience/Qualifacations:

I have a HND in Landscape And Horticultural Technology and over 20 years combined experience in the landscape design/construction industries. I have worked at all levels and sectors on jobs from £50 to £200K and have been a self-employed garden designer/landscaper since 2004. I have been using AutoCAD and SketchUp regularly for over five years now and I posses a City And Guilds qualification in 2D Computer Aided Draughting.

Costs:

As an indication as to what I am likely to charge you, such services are currently advertised on the internet for around £15 - £20 per hour and I hope to offer a slight discount on this to LJN members.

Timescale:

As an example, the above drawing produced for Michael took me around 8 hours to produce.

Method:

All the above services can be offered to you remotely (no matter where you are based/work) and this is made possibly by the internet, email, telephone and postal correspondence. All that is needed at your end is accurate site survey information inc. measurements, photographs, clients briefs (not underwear!) and videos to send to me and from that (and with a little help from Google Earth etc.) I should be able to produce my drawings/models for your perusal.

This service is very embryonic at this stage and open to suggestion, so if you are interested in any aspect of the above or simply want to chat to me regarding it, please contact me db.garden.design@googlemail.com

Thanks

David

"I wouldn't cut a hedge without one. Anything over 6' you should get with 3 adjustable legs, otherwise they can be unstable if you lean - but positioned correctly they are the only way.

"Yes had that scenario where you can't reach a fiddly bit no matter what ladder and have to balance on the apex of a shed roof or do best job painstakingly with a long reach pole pruner . "

"I'm very wary of these tripod ladders, I took a life changing fall from the top of a 12ft tripod. Now I only use them myself with great care. The issue is that they are very unstable at the top if you lean to either side, and they go with no…"

"Tripods are better than any other ladder that's a fact. You can cut hedges that are lower than the ladder but it is more awkward, I have a 6ft amd a 12 foot been using both for the last 15yrs and haven't come stuck yet. Believe me once you've had…"
