A Testament to Longevity and Sustainability

This iconic Hydro 100 from Etesia has a history worthy of its classic status.

Originally sold by RTS to The Terence Conran Trust Design Museum in 1995 it was recognised as a machine worthy of such a credential and status, and displayed in London for many years.

In 2018 it returned to its original supplier Richard Taylor of RT Machinery and was sold again in 2019, enjoying a full working life at RTM Landscapes, managing the green and social housing spaces around North Bucks and Milton Keynes.

Today in its bones – and on display at GroundsFest last September – it’s still a working machine and ready to earn a living for its next owner.

Original sale price in 1995: £5000 + VAT
Resale price in 2019: £4850
Repurchase price in 2024: £1500

The purchase cost over its lifetime works out to 33p per day*, highlighting the machine’s durability and the incredible value it offers.

1995 to 2024 = 29 years or 10,585 days (approx.)
Sold originally for £5000 and value today £1500
1500 / 10,585 = 33p per day

Managing Director of RT Machinery commented:

“Since the 90’s I’ve said there are three good reasons to invest in an Etesia: well designed, well made and well respected. Their reputation for “Anti Clog” cutting and collecting grass in all conditions has been the statement they’ve lived by all these years."

"The return on them, however, gives an amazing fourth reason! Customers win by getting a good price in a part exchange or buy-back and we’re always happy to get our hands on these used machines as we know we’ll find another home for them where they can continue cutting grass!"

"This particular machine is now in the RT Machinery Museum of History!

Les Malin, Managing Director of Etesia Uk added to Richard's comments by saying “It’s not the cost of purchase today that should be the deciding factor when buying a machine – first it’s buying a machine designed to do the job you require, then it should be its whole lifetime cost and sustainability of the product. Buy cheap, buy twice.

"Just seen this post and wanted to add that the Stihl HSA100 and AP200s batteries are a great combo. Yes about 4.9kg but with minimal vibrations it is actually a joy to use for long periods of time. If you wanted to reduce the weight they do a belt…"
