Visitor numbers for the RHS shows at Hampton Court Palace and Tatton Park were down by almost 10 per cent this year.
HortWeek reports that at Hampton Court, despite this year's attendance figure of 142,022 being its second highest since 2009, it was still behind the 2013 figure of 154,034.
The RHS show at Tatton Park saw 67,033 visitors, which was down from 72,845 in 2013 but similar to the total in 2012.
In 2014, the number of visitors to Chelsea remained static at 165,000 with the show sold out.

I'm not surprised. The cost of a day out at Hampton Court is pretty eye-watering. You can't arrive by car and get in for less than £70 as a couple with membership (and that includes £10 for parking). Then, if you've paid that much to get in, it's something of a disincentive to buy much while you're in there.
