Some very simple website tips

Websites do not have to be complex things if you are just promoting a small business, but put a few things in place and they can have a real impact. The main function of your site should be to create a welcoming feel, build a sense of trust and make it easy to contact you or buy your products or services. Whether your online presence is here on the network or you have a site of your own follow these rules so you get more ‘bang for your buck’. Here are my top tips: Regularly update content If you ran a shop you wouldn’t just leave the windows bare, not bring in any new stock or fail to give it a fresh lick of paint now and then, would you? So write about what’s happening in your trade, events or shows you have been to and your own experiences of running a business. A page featuring you How easy is it for you to hand over your hard-earned cash to a faceless individual? Then why do you expect your site visitors to do the same? Spend a little time to create a page describing yourself, with a good photograph, and you will build a valuable sense of trust. Make use of email signatures If you send out email messages, which I’m sure you do, include a line after the end of your sign-off with your website address and a short catchline. People can’t resist clicking on it. Either set this up within your email software or just type a simple http://www.yourwebsitename.com/ (don't forget the http as this will make the link clickable). Don’t rely on technical wizardry Just because you can do it, doesn’t mean you should. A real turn off for web users is to arrive at a site only to be greeted by jangling music blaring from their speakers. The same can be said for flashy, mini movies that start up on arrival at the site. Most people will be gone. Not getting the basics right Check and double-check spellings, grammar and the facts about places and locations. Make sure your site doesn’t have any broken links, any forms you have are easy to understand and that images load correctly. If you have any questions just leave a message below.

"Thanks Adam, an interesting counter-argument! 2 questions- 1) is this just the throttle-stop screw, and 2) are they then very noisy?  We do seem to have some very noise-averse customers!"

"Peter Sellers - you are sort of wrong ref the RM48SPH.... I have several...ALL of mine have been tuned - to a VERY brisk walk on full throttle.
There's lots of 'dealers' out there that really don't understand the machines - or really care. To meet…"

"I was tempted by the Weibang, but horrified by the weight!  Having seen Adam's comments, I'm tempted to look at the Cobra RM48SPH (this is mostly doing small-medium gardens).  What are other people's thoughts re this mower, or Cobra in general?"
