£2.3m Gateway Created with Tobermore Paving Products in Solihull

The Solihull Gateway project has saw £2.3m worth of highway improvements in the Station Road and Poplar Road areas of Solihull town centre, forming a key ‘Gateway' for access into the town centre.

The construction works were carried out by Balfour Beatty and the striking new landscape, created with a variety of Tobermore world class paving products, was designed by Chris Morton at Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council.

A large expanse of Tobermore’s Lincoln paving in Buff in a textured finish has been installed by Kelbec Civils Ltd, with sections of Lincoln in Bracken in a smooth finish intertwined, creating a stunning result.

Lincoln is one of the latest additions to Tobermore’s commercial product portfolio and features a hard-wearing surface which is ideal for pedestrianised areas and wheeled traffic.

Tobermore’s innovative City Pave VS5 block paving in Bracken, Silver & Graphite are featured on areas within the Station Road and Poplar Road in Solihull that has been designed for vehicular use. City Pave VS5 is the ultimate in pavement stability as it incorporates shift protection on five sides of the block, including the special profile on the bottom surface which produces a clawing effect in the pavement bed. This ensures continuous protection against pavement shifting.

Tobermore Tactile Flags with a Blister surface finish in Graphite has also been installed to ensure safety for the blind, partially sighted or elderly in identifying pedestrian crossing zones.

The aims of the Solihull Gateway project is simple; to make visiting the town centre more accessible and convenient, and to improve the appearance of the area. The works will also help support the town centre’s economy and encourage investment in the town centre.
