Since an early age i have always loved plants and gardens. I think i got the real hook when i entered a competition to create a garden in a seed tray at my village horticultural show. I won 1st prize. My grandmother actively encourage me to follow it through, so after o levels i went to Pershore college of horticulture, i loved it. For my 1 year experience i spent it in France working in a french nursery in Bergerac, on the Dordogne river. French language was not a problem as i lived there when we were younger. Most of my time on the nursery was spent collating plant orders for delivery all over france, so i picked up latin btanical names pretty quickly. it was a case of labelling plants and tagging. I spent time in propagation aswell as despatch, but mostly i loved being in the nursery beds. The lifestyle was good too, like having 2 hours for lunch with wine! Well i came back and gained my national certificate and then started work at a private estate in Northamptonshire with day release to study for my City and Guilds 1,2,3 in horticulture. The rest of the week i was working in a team of 4 with a head gardener looking after the gardens. I sure got valuable experience there, like working in the kitchen garden,the main lawn gardens,orchards,pool gardens and all the associated maintenance like creasoting the fences and gates once a year. Anyway i graduated and got 3 distinctions in all papers. I owe that head gardener so much, for his patience and encouragement. Since then i have worked in Plant depts of garden centres advising customers, trade nurseries in the uk, attending garden shows, and then i set up my own garden design business, having covered much of it in my training. And that is where i now am today, have done a few celebrity gardens, but design during the winter months for gardens to go into build spring and summer and do garden maintenance for the best part of the year.
