Wonderful Gardens and friends UK and Israel

It was a great day.I enjoyed listening to a new cd from friends, read few comments from good fiends from LJ, Israel and other friends from uk.Got electric propagator as a birthday present from brother in law and wife- any tips about it let me know.In Israel I used for the short winter (3-4 warm month) a wooden frame with non ready compost and a nice layer of perlit on top and covered that with plastic (like a small green house) the compost got warm when working and I saw seed + put cuttings in the perlit.(free propagator) Well it worked well in Israel outdoor. I am not sure if it will work here -what do you think?Israel is a very interesting country- but before you say anything.. I know most people think about security and safety. well I think logically, in Israel about 450 people died from road accidents and about 10 a year from war/ terror. Think about it it is 45 times more - and I do not know anyone in israel or the UK that is scared to cross the road.So I know it looks bad on t.v.. Beside there is less violent crime in Israel than UK- So Lets try and enjoy the positive part now.First the nature:The Flora( wild, native plants) In Israel Thanks to the location of Israel is amazing and it got plants from all three continents around (Asia,Africa, Europe). Many Endemic Organizmim That grow only there. It is small country,West to east half an hour to two hours drive. North to south about 6-8 hours, But with many extreme geography. Up north high mountain 2000 metre and 2000- 3000 mm rain during short winter. in the south the lowest place in the world- the dead sea (where all the mad for Christmas presents is coming from with lots of healthy minerals) and down south a very extreme -beautiful rocky desert with only 25 mm (average 3 days if at all)rain a year along the Red sea (beautiful tropical sea 18 cl all year around in the water)Soil is very varied along areas in and so as the Wild animals. All of that give Gardening a good start point.Nearly all people that visit Israel say that there are extremely surprised how green is israel. With clever Irrigation systems (Drip Irrigation developed in Israel And exported all over the globe) Letting to grow High tech agricultureCultureIsrael Established on 1948 After Jewish people came from all over the world (included my grandparents)They all left their houses after the war in Europe and many hate and terror all over and came to a country with desert marsh with diseases and sure more wars. But the beauty of Israel Is that people brought culture from all over to create a new culture. Our nearest 20 neighbors (families) were originally from 30 different countries(many of the parents were from different origin) .My 2 grand parents are from Tunisia and the other 2 are from Poland. What it mean is that we were exposed to so much wonderful food, amazing music and so.In fact, the best part is this generation that absorbed it all and manage to create something new.I mean great cheff, Great new musician that Mix east and west classic and ethnic.(like the cd I got that got many classical instruments, Ethnic instruments and singer in 3 languages.- and the words are all full of hope and positive in most songs in Hebrew. ) It make me smile when they mention the first rain of the year and always a great thing in Israel - It has a wonderful smell.Today Israel is very modern country (too modren if you ask me) Economy is very stable and based on ''brain'' (Hi tech - and patent ) 1% of all patents in the world are from Israel.Agriculture is limited to new developed and fashions in Europe.Farmers can only grow new verities that are not yet grown in other countries.Israel export flowers,Avocado, Mango, peppers and melons That are earlier As grown in a warm part of the desert. seeds and Plants cuttings (that cost like gold) of veg and ornamental plants .It is a bit about Israel, Friends more about gardening there next time as promised.Love you all

"I have a 6ft pair of Niwakis, wish i’d had them years before I did. I initially got the 8fts and immediately realised they would be a pain for the majority of hedges I used to cut. I think they are brilliant just make sure they are seated properly.…"

"I wouldn't cut a hedge without one. Anything over 6' you should get with 3 adjustable legs, otherwise they can be unstable if you lean - but positioned correctly they are the only way.
Befrore retirement I had an 8' and a 4; . The 4' went in the…"

"Yes had that scenario where you can't reach a fiddly bit no matter what ladder and have to balance on the apex of a shed roof or do best job painstakingly with a long reach pole pruner . "

"I'm very wary of these tripod ladders, I took a life changing fall from the top of a 12ft tripod. Now I only use them myself with great care. The issue is that they are very unstable at the top if you lean to either side, and they go with no…"

"Done a couple of second cuts already this last week would you believe. It's almost as if the grass has a memory of last year's drought and is making up for it now plenty of moisture available"

"the tripods are good but in some scenarios the wide base and the fact the 3rd leg has to be placed some distance away from the step part for stability makes this large foot print impractical eg when cutting hedge behind a shed or greenhouse with…"

"Tripods are better than any other ladder that's a fact. You can cut hedges that are lower than the ladder but it is more awkward, I have a 6ft amd a 12 foot been using both for the last 15yrs and haven't come stuck yet. Believe me once you've had…"

Does moss always = full renovation

Hi.Does a mossey lawn always equal a full lawn renovation? Once you kill (or control) moss the customer is left with brown / black dead moss all over their lawn. So then its needs scarifying to rake it up, then usually a preseed fert, seed and top…
