Sherriff Amenity has announced the launch of Bunkerfilter™ – a new robust bunker filtration system which offers drainage at a flow rate of up to 14.5 litres per minute.

The arrival of Bunkerfilter™ will come as welcome news to greenkeepers and course managers who face constant battles with problematic bunkers. Heavy rain not only washes bunker sand into drains but it also carries silt and over time this leads to drainage deterioration. In fact, a recent survey revealed that an average of 10kg of silt was deposited per tonne of bunker sand over nine years and this silt combines with sand and water to form a hard compact layer. It can often be very time consuming and expensive to rectify the issue.

However, to minimise these costly effects, greenkeepers and course managers can now install Bunkerfilter™, which works as a unique filter system well below the playing surface of the bunker. This robust bunker filtration system is not only easily installed by greens staff but its location in the bunker means that it cannot interfere with play.

Bunkerfilter™ is designed to retrofit with existing drainage and it is a perfect fit for a modern 100mm plastic drain hose. It uses low cost ceramic parts for robust performance and has longer term benefits by providing a system which requires less drainage maintenance. Bunkerfilter™ also improves bunker playability by significantly reducing the incidence of flooded bunkers caused by heavy rain.

Bunkerfilter™ has a number of key benefits including:

Quickly restores drainage to cope with peak flows.
Invisible and harmless to the environment.
Does not interfere with play.
Robust and will not deform with time.
Requires very little maintenance.
Can be treated to prevent slimes and algae.
Easily installed by your greenkeeping staff.

Graham Farrow replied to Henry's discussion Etesia Hydro 80 failing to start
"Hi Henry - Sounds like the starter motor is trying to turn the engine over but it has jammed. You could try freeing it off by rocking the machine backwards and forwards. It may work. Did for me on an Etesia 124. Good luck."
