RHS Garden Harlow Carr in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, is to host its first flower show from 10 to 12 June this year.
From browsing and buying to gaining first-hand advice from horticultural experts in beautiful surroundings, the RHS Garden Harlow Carr flower show promises visitors a packed programme of talks and demonstrations as well as more than 30 specialist nurseries and garden trade stands.
June is a perfect time to appreciate the garden in its early summer splendour – from the inspiring allium displays, to the increasingly renowned spectacle of the garden’s Himalayan blue poppies (Meconopsis) and candelabra primulas by the Streamside, thought to be one of the longest streamside gardens in the country.
Flower show visitors will also be able to enjoy Harlow Carr’s summer sculpture trail in the garden with beautiful works from local artists.
Liz Thwaite, head of site at RHS Garden Harlow Carr, said: “After 15 years of running Harlow Carr, the RHS has decided it is time to celebrate the very best in horticulture in the north with our first RHS flower show. We are all very excited and looking forward to welcoming leading plant specialists from across the country and delighting visitors with world-class horticulture in a world-class garden.”
RHS Garden Wisley, Surrey and RHS Garden Hyde Hall, Essex have held hugely successful flower shows for several years, with visitor numbers growing rapidly each year. Last year RHS Garden Hyde Hall flower show experienced a rise of more than 8,500 visitors, reflecting the growing popularity of flower shows across the country.
The new RHS Garden Harlow Carr flower show aims to be the highlight of the garden’s yearly programme of events, which already includes spring festivals, craft exhibitions and plant fairs.
Entrance to the show is included in normal garden entry and the show is open from 10am to 5pm each day.
