Have you ever been in the situation where you've finished the hard landscaping on a project and then the client asks for help with the planting?
Plants are great - and in my opinion, if you get it right, they really do make the layout and the hard landscaping "sing". But choosing and arranging plants requires a very different skill set to building a patio. In all my landscaping career, I've only met a couple of landscapers who are brilliant at both. Most can either do one or the other.
My Garden Design offers a service that will really add the wow factor to your landscaping projects. Planting plans.
All you need to do is send us the layout plan for the area you are planting, give us some dimensions and tell us about the soil type and the client's preferred planting style. Do they want a full on cottage garden? tropical type planting? Low maintenance? Dog friendly? Edible? Colour themed?
Our designers will create a planting plan for you - along with a 'shopping list'. You can then source and position the plants yourself. OR you could pass the plan to the clients and let them have all the fun.
The big advantage of a planting plan is not just in the aesthetics of the garden - it's about sustainability. Right plant, right place has never been more important than now. Dead plants don't look good and they're not very helpful in the war against climate change. Carefully selecting plants that will thrive and continue to look good for years after being planted can only help to win you lots of word of mouth advertising.
Here's a plan we did for a front garden in Norfolk
As you can see, it's a long, narrow garden with serves two properties. The client works from home. That's her office window right in the middle of the house. She wanted a bee-friendly garden with lots of colour and scent. She also asked for a path between the two properties because the postman, the paperboy and the neighbour tend to walk across it anyway - it's easier to accommodate habits than to change them.
Feedback has been excellent - I'm told she's planning to plant her spring flowering bulbs next week and has really enjoyed watching the plants mature.
