Every charity values their supporters – or certainly should do – but in light of the recent news about some charities passing on data, here at Thrive we’d like to reassure all our supporters, our future supporters and the general public that we have never, and will never pass on your data.
At Thrive we’ve always tried hard to respond positively to all your feedback and in particular have been listening to you about the number of direct mail appeals we produce each year.
We write appeals because we believe the next best thing to introducing you to the amazing people we help each year, is to interview them first-hand and tell you their stories. We hope you agree.
Last year we took the decision to drop the number of direct appeals from seven to six per year and will be reviewing this again at the end of the financial year to see what the response has been.
We’ve also improved the mailing preferences that we offer from no appeals, all appeals, to one or perhaps two a year (ie summer and winter). We’ve done this out of respect to all our supporters and all that they do to help us achieve our charity aims each year.
At Thrive we care deeply about our beneficiaries so we have to ask for money otherwise we couldn’t function. But we want to reassure you that we strive to fundraise sensitively and in a way that hands the choices back to the donor. We haven't used telephone fundraising and operate an 'opt-in' system in gathering data.
We are a small team of fundraisers at Thrive who make up the Business Development Team – pictured from left are Kat, Alyson, Sandy, Jean and Peter, ably assisted by some wonderful volunteers like Jean.
If you want to talk about how you can help Thrive or have any questions on our fundraising practices, you can talk to one of them on 0118 988 5688.
