Chris & Heather McAlpine replied to Jason Taylor's discussion Hedge trimming costs
"We're also in the north west and charge £30 per hour for regulars and more for one-offs with a decent mark up on planting jobs.  Very few round here charging less than £30 per hour and rightly so"

Will Roberts replied to Caroline Benge's discussion Honda Izy 46push or Weibang virtue 46push
"Hi. I can't comment on the Izy but I've owned a Weibang legacy 56 for 3 1/2 years and it's been excellent. Build quality is very robust and starts every time. I don't know about the virtue model but if it's build as well as the legacy it will be a…"

"I'd go with the weibang 5yr warranty you can't get anything better but remember your not a contractor it's just for home use 😁 otherwise it's a 1yr warranty. I've got a weibang it's 7yrs old and hasn't broken anything yet.

"Have you considered Stihl 4 series mowers. I have used them for over 10 years, generally get 2 seasons out of them before selling on. My backup mower is 10 years old, always starts always cuts. They are relatively simple and I have always gone for…"

MF Hodgson replied to David Benson's discussion grass cutting
"The lawns where I work are pretty much brown and crispy, with the odd patch of green where there's some shade. From a distance most look more like sand than grass. "

"I don't know much about that Weibang but I wouldn't touch that brand again myself. I had the 48Pro BBC & it had to have a new gearbox within two months of purchase. The same gearbox was knackered when I sold it & it had maybe 300 hours on it."

Ian Harvey replied to Caroline Benge's discussion Honda Izy 46push or Weibang virtue 46push
"I would have a look at the Stihl RM448t, which is a 46cm single speed self propelled mower. It is roughly the same price as the Honda IZY self propelled. I would go self propelled over push only- the difference is price is worth it once you hit a…"

Caroline Benge replied to Caroline Benge's discussion Honda Izy 46push or Weibang virtue 46push
"Hi Peter thank you, that does make sense, it is a cheaper end model (although the 46cm is £460 here!) I also don't do much mowing so  I expect it will last me a bit longer than others who do a lot of mowing. "

Darren Walters replied to Paul Hebditch's discussion Large building site plot maintainence.
"One thing to bear it mind is that the grass will probably need mowing weekly until the new turf has exhausted itself and starts to reply on nutrients in the ground."

Peter sellers replied to Caroline Benge's discussion Honda Izy 46push or Weibang virtue 46push
"Caroline. I think you have to be realistic and philosophical here. The Honda izy is a domestic machine which our dealer sells at £370 inc vat ,remove the vat which makes the dealer selling price £309 as they pass the vat on to HMRC. So we have a…"
