"Consider this: assume (for simplicity) we all earn nothing over the next 6 months (aka the summer) and then we are all magically back to work as winter approaches. The chancellor bails us out for those 6 months at 80% of our 'self-employed taxable p…"

Steven Mills replied to James McKay's discussion Furloughing employees because of van sharing - is it justified?
"My two guys usually share a van so having made the decision to continue working I've had to insure the one lad on my van that I usually use. Unfortunately he's only 22 and the cost for  one months insurance is £350.00."

I’m not worried about the risks to health as I don’t think there are any. (Or should I say that I am very concerned, yet know with the measures I will implement to protect myself and the customer, the risks are so minor as to be nonexistent).…"

Nick @ NM Garden Services Ltd replied to James McKay's discussion Furloughing employees because of van sharing - is it justified?
"Our interpretation is also that van sharing can't happen beacuse of the 2m distance rule.
It also applies when lifting etc (so uness one person can safely do it, you can't do it at all).
Could the staff member potentially meet you on site (assuming…"

Andrew Watts replied to James McKay's discussion Furloughing employees because of van sharing - is it justified?
"People must be at least 2m apart at all times. So, my interpretation was van sharing a no-no and think it a perfectly valid reason for furlough."
