Country Supplies becomes first supplier of LigniaXD™ Decking in the UK.

Lignia XD, Solid Wood without Equal.

Hughenden Valley, Buckinghamshire – Country Supplies today announced that in partnership with Fibre7 the UK release of LigniaXD™ Decking. With outstanding sourcing credentials Lignia XD® is a premium timber that has been created from certified sawn plantation timber with colour and performance locked into the core – fit for purpose, plentiful and sustainable. The patented Lignia Product Range has performance built in, with exceptional durability and stability. Our timber is defect free and available in longer lengths than almost all premium timbers. LigniaXD™ is specially designed for external applications.

“Consumers have been looking for a product that has the properties and stunning looks of hardwood but with the sustainability and practicality of a softwood,” said Michael Bryant, MD, Country Supplies. “LigniaXD has all of those properties and much more. Throughout our company we strive to give our customers the best possible products and LigniaXD is another example of this.”

Key Advantages of Lignia XD over traditional hardwoods.

  • Sustainability  - LigniaXD is produced from managed and sustainable sources and is fully FSC, PEPC traceable. All species used are plantation grown for managed replacement.
  • Stability  - LigniaXD has minimal swelling and shrinkage even compared to Teak.

In decking applications this means it can be laid closer together using just a 2.6mm spacer. Each piece is much straighter and does not twist nor cup or move after fixing. Some surface checking may occur.

  • Density - LigniaXD has a bulk density of 650kg M³ compared to IPE which is 1050kg M³

This makes LigniaXD easier and lighter to handle and much easier to cut. This does not compromise is strength or durability.

  • Consistency - LigniaXD due to its manufacture process has a consistent colour but still retains the beauty of wood, having a richer grain. The colour is 100% constant throughout the timber with a constant colour from batch to batch. Lignia is clear of any defects meaning no more wild variation between boards.
  • Durability - LigniaXD is Class 1 durability to EN113, backed with a 50 year warranty against rot or decay when used above ground outdoors.
  • Fixing - LigniaXD is PH neutral so will not bleed or corrode fixings. The decking can either be fixed using the Deckwise side fixing clips (supplied by Country Supplies) or front fixed as normal. As LigniaXD has similar characteristics to hardwood, it still requires pre-drilling.

Pricing and availability

Lignia XD is available now from www.countrysupplies.uk.com

Prices start at £8.95 per linear meter.

"Yes that photo shows you would struggle to find anything less suitable to cut that particular hedge from. I have a large tripod and it only gets used several times per year, perfect for certain jobs but for day to day use more of a hindrance"
