Mower Plant Services (MPS) in Smarden Kent have taken delivery of a Plant & Go truck from KFS Special Vehicles in Andover.

MPS have been supplying and maintaining garden equipment in Kent for over 37 years, and are the main agent in Kent for Honda, and also agents for Snapper and Stiga machinery as well as others.

They had been using a Ford Transit Beavertail 3.5 truck for deliveries and collections, but were conscious of the limited payload and high deck height when loading and unloading machinery.

Steve Rains, proprietor of MPS first became aware of the Plant & Go truck when visiting IOG Saltex in September, and saw immediately what the truck could offer regards flexibility. Following the show KFS organised a demonstration which resulted in Steve ordering the vehicle and taking delivery in January.

The truck utilises a Fiat Ducato cab with a 2.3 litre Euro 5 130ps engine, mated to a KFS chassis conversion. KFS built the body to Mower Plant Services specification which included a 3.6 metre bed length, a winch and a spring assisted tailgate.

Steve Rains commented “we are really pleased with the truck it is purpose built for the job. The low deck height, tailgate design and payload addresses all the issues we had with our old vehicle. I specified a winch thinking it would be needed to load broken machines but due to the shallow ramp angle we can just push them on. We can now safely and legally take out 3-4 machines in one go saving us time and money”

"Tripods are better than any other ladder that's a fact. You can cut hedges that are lower than the ladder but it is more awkward, I have a 6ft amd a 12 foot been using both for the last 15yrs and haven't come stuck yet. Believe me once you've had…"
