Fife Council’s impressive 24, 000 square metre Halbeath Park and Ride scheme has won the prestigious Integrated Transport Project of the Year award at the annual Scottish Transport Awards. Hosted by journalist and television presenter Kirsty Wark, the ceremony was held at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Glasgow on June 19th. The Scottish Transport awards, now in their 12th year, play host to hundreds of transport industry professionals and recognise excellence, innovation and progress across all areas of transport in Scotland.

The £10 million Halbeath Park and Ride project was funded by Transport Scotland and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). Halbeath Park and Ride has enhanced transport links between Fife and Central Scotland and supports the new Queensferry Crossing, as well as facilitating an amazing 1, 000 car parking spaces, 6 stances, a heated waiting area with toilets and a staffed supervising office, bringing huge benefits to commuters in the Fife region.

On winning the award, Dr. Bob McLellan, Head of Transportation & Environmental Services, commented, “Halbeath Park and Ride has only been open six months but already is proving a great success...Congratulations to the staff involved in this project, they deserve this recognition for all their hard work.”

Designed by Fife Regional Council, Halbeath Park and Ride features a stunning expanse of Tobermore's Hydropave 240 permeable paving in the deep colour blend of Brindle. Hydropave permeable paving provides the opportunity to create spectacular hard landscaping designs with environmentally friendly products that essentially reduce the risk of flooding and pollution. The Hydropave range is the ideal landscaping solution for urban and industrial areas.

The brilliant Robertson Construction Civils, who have a number of bases across Scotland and Northern Ireland, acted as main contractor on this fantastic scheme and Developers Direct, based in both Edinburgh and Glasgow, laid the innovative landscaping products featured.

The method we use when the client does nor want a full renovation - spray pro kleen liquid iron at a dilution of 2.5 lts in 12lts water this will cover around 200 sq mts if you thoroughly wet the area. After 7 to 10 days repeat but with the…"

"Interesting but not surprised . Makes we wonder about mowing a grass verge outside a customers property and cutting the pedestrian side of a hedge which is a public right of way . "
