Plant lovers can meet up with some nationally renowned local growers, see the best of their spring range and get some top growing tips at east Dorset’s first specialist nursery plant fair on 24 May.
Horticultural nurseries have flourished in the area since the 1800s and this plant fair, at Knoll Gardens near Wimborne, brings together these highly specialised local growers for the first time, combining the opportunity to buy top quality plants with expert planting advice.
With acers, azaleas, heathers, rhododendrons, camellias and blueberries all on sale together with Knoll’s award-winning grasses and flowering perennials, this is sure to be an exceptional Plant Fair featuring many rare and unusual plants hard to obtain elsewhere.
In addition to plant sales, Q & A sessions and short talks will provide an insight into the lives of the passionate horticulturists running these top quality nurseries. Free volunteer-led guided walks and refreshments ensure there is also plenty of opportunity to relax and enjoy this internationally acclaimed naturalistic show garden described by Roy Lancaster as ‘refreshingly intimate’.
The Plant Fair runs from 10am – 4pm on Saturday 24 May and admission to the gardens and Plant Fair costs £4 for adults and £2 for children. A free tree trail and garden history guide is included in the admission price and there is also a free children’s trail.
