The sale of Asulox will cease on Monday 14th September as part of the Emergency Approval set out on behalf of the HSE.
Asulox is the primary and most effective product for treating bracken. It is a unique situation being granted a year to year approval for sale after initially being revoked in 2012 – this allows it to be sold from the 18th May until 14th September and used up by the customer until 31st October. All unused bottles must be returned to the manufacturer.
Bracken is an invasive plant which can swamp pasture and grazing. It is also hazardous to human and animal health with spores known to be a cause of cancer.
Asulox® should be sprayed onto bracken before the onset of senescence – the natural yellowing as bracken dies back for winter. It was also great for docks but this approval has been withdrawn…..use on bracken in rough upland intended for grazing, agricultural grassland or amenity vegetation.
Quick reminders:
- · Knapsack treatment suitable where bracken is up to waist height
- · Use a non-ionic wetter
- · Herbicide symptoms are virtually absent in the year of spraying
- · Knapsack nozzles should be suitable for a MEDIUM or COARSE spray
- · The fronds must not be damaged by livestock, frost or by cutting before treatment.
- · Do not cut the bracken or admit livestock for at least 28 days after treatment
Speak to Progreen at the weekend or on Monday for final sales of 5 & 20L Asulox
