Plants in the garden in autumn

Prompted by the vibrant Autumn colours on this site I headed for the garden, camera in hand, to find a selection. Hydrangea preziosa was just starting to turn from wine to a mottled beige. I then found rhododendron ready to burst into flower tricked by our confused weather perhaps. One of my favourite flowers is solomons seal which starts life in the Spring with creamy white bells dangling from its arching leaves and lasts through to autumn when it turns gold.Heathers sprayed with food dye -bought from a DIY store as an experiment- not exactly autumn colour but will see what happens as they grow.

Mmmmm, now that is interesting ;-)

The problem is that you need quite a body of text to scroll around this many photographs and space them out correctly.

    But there is a solution.

Within the photos section of the network you can upload pics and then create an album of related pics.

You then have the option of embedding this album elsewhere.

For example, if you take a look at one of Andrew's albums you'll see the option that says 'Get embed code'.

You would then place this code in your story and write up your accompanying article.
  • The problem was that I thought I could write a bit then insert photo and then write some more. However this just resulted in all the photos being inserted at the beginning. I then started mucking about with the options to see what happened. Will give your solution a try.

"Agree with you Graham, we have a client with a long run of Laurel which we only cut once a year mid june and have done for over 20 years, the client is fussy with a capital F ! It's a superb evergreen hedge which is bomb proof.
As to this so called…"

"Disagree there!  I maintain a site with a couple of of large laurel hedges and one cut in July suffices and keeps it looking nice.  Agree.... looks nasty immediately after cutting but quickly perks up so you don't notice the cut leaves.  Pretty much…"

"That's pretty much my thinking, but I am seeing them more and more. Mostly at expensive new builds. Mostly people with very limited gardening experience wanting an immediate finished product. "

"Yes 5' actual instant shaped hedging is very expensive, but if that's what he wants he'll have to pay for it.  A good compromise is use individual plants- you could use 1.5m, but 1.8 or 2m plants would probably be bushier, and by trimming to height…"
