The lovely Saturday E Mail

I finished planting a contemporary garden a week last Friday. I designed it, Dale Pellatt built it.It's always good to hear that the clients are happy with the thought and skills taken to produce 'THE' garden that they dreamed of. This is the 'makes it all worth while' e mail that I received today."Hi Kerrie,Firstly, to say sorry that we haven't been in touch sooner. We both have horrid colds and I have had a couple of really busy weeks at work. However we just wanted to say how wonderful the garden is, we adore it and this afternoon have our garden party, thankfully the sun is shining -it couldn't be better. You are welcome to come round any time to take photos. Since the garden has been finished we have spent as much time out there as possible, even sitting out in the evening with blankets! We're really pleased with the lighting also, it makes it so much fun to be out there even in the dark! Thanks again and let's do keep in touch!Thank you again, it is just how hoped it would be!"

Well done Kerrie. Doesn't it make it all worthwhile?
  • It does!

I never forget that, long after my part in the garden is finished, the garden lives on, growing and subtlety changing, but it always has to aspire to the original thought.
  • Congrats! Lovely email
  • Well done Kerrie - doesn't that make our job the best in the world? Congratulations!!!

  • Thanks Debs, it is the BEST job in the world (even though I was surveying a difficult site today in the rain and wind! When plotting my measurements on paper found that I had missed crucial laser gun action, so will have to go back MILES to the site next week to get them)

Seriously thinking of sending a 'lovely Saturday e mail' to the plumber tomorrow, he did a great job at my home this week, at short notice. Not sure plumbers ever get lovely emails!!

You may be interested I am going to be a beta tester for Uphotomeasure.
Uphotomeasure allows the designer to use some powerful software that converts photgraphs to measurements.

I have only received the confirmation email today but you might want to check the software out in advance.

It could save some precious time.

I have covered the software a while back when it was called Iphotomeasure but it has gone through a revamp.

  • Thanks Phil, will check it out. Time is precious, but getting less so.....

"I have a 6ft pair of Niwakis, wish i’d had them years before I did. I initially got the 8fts and immediately realised they would be a pain for the majority of hedges I used to cut. I think they are brilliant just make sure they are seated properly.…"

"I wouldn't cut a hedge without one. Anything over 6' you should get with 3 adjustable legs, otherwise they can be unstable if you lean - but positioned correctly they are the only way.

"Yes had that scenario where you can't reach a fiddly bit no matter what ladder and have to balance on the apex of a shed roof or do best job painstakingly with a long reach pole pruner . "

"I'm very wary of these tripod ladders, I took a life changing fall from the top of a 12ft tripod. Now I only use them myself with great care. The issue is that they are very unstable at the top if you lean to either side, and they go with no…"

"the tripods are good but in some scenarios the wide base and the fact the 3rd leg has to be placed some distance away from the step part for stability makes this large foot print impractical eg when cutting hedge behind a shed or greenhouse with…"

"Tripods are better than any other ladder that's a fact. You can cut hedges that are lower than the ladder but it is more awkward, I have a 6ft amd a 12 foot been using both for the last 15yrs and haven't come stuck yet. Believe me once you've had…"

Does moss always = full renovation

Hi.Does a mossey lawn always equal a full lawn renovation? Once you kill (or control) moss the customer is left with brown / black dead moss all over their lawn. So then its needs scarifying to rake it up, then usually a preseed fert, seed and top…
