About you and your business ( please complete)
I'm the show manager for BBC Gardeners' World Live at the NEC in Birmingham and RHS Show Cardiff. Katy Gaunt assists me fabulously on BBC GWL and we can both be contacted with any queries you have about getting involved with the show. At Cardiff I'm on my own! Well, sort of... I started my career in horticulture at Barton Grange Garden Centre in Woodford, Cheshire. Then I studied Management and Design of Gardens (HND) at Pershore College. After this I did the buying for a wholesale nursery in Lichfield, Staffs and ran a small, interesting plant centre; I started designing gardens and creating planting plans too. During this time I was also working on RHS shows with perennial nursery Rushfields of Ledbury. I went off traveling around India for a bit then moved to the south coast and became gardening writer at the biggest selling weekly gardening magazine, Amateur Gardening, an IPC/Time Warner title. I created my first show garden at the National Amateur Gardening Show at the Royal Bath and West Showground, winning Best in Show and Gold Medal. After leaving AG I was commissioned to write a book on Bamboo and Grasses by publisher GMC. I opened my own plant centre at Compton Acres in Poole, Dorset in 2008, specialising in the rare and unusual. I continued to design and produce planting plans for my partner's landscaping business and others. In March this year (2011) I first met with the head of shows development here at the Royal Horticultural Society and the rest is history!
