General service, spark , fuel filter, air filter, sharpen blade maybe new blade depends upon inspection, clean grass collector just wash it with hot soapy water then rinse with hose and leave to dry, clean under deck with brush and hose, check belt or drive chain. It all help to maintain a high level of performance from a machine, i do this weekly with my machines, hence they rarely let me down.
Accepting that the machine is running at right revs etc, experience shows;
1 - go find an original style "high lift" blade
2 - Jet wash fabric bag from outside in
3 - ensure under deck and chute as clean as possible
Air flow is key to getting grass lifted up, cut and delivered as fast as possible to rear of box.
I've been surprised what a difference a new blade makes....I used to think that as long as it had a sharp tip to it, everything was fine so I just kept sharpening it and the tip became much narrower. New blade fixed it instantly. As others have said..... clean the bag. I've used a compressor to do this, blasting air from outside the bag, to the inside.
